Gurez, August 18 : Residents of Refugee-1 village in Tulail Valley have raised concerns over the lack of basic facilities, saying the village has seen little development since Independence.
Residents said only two major government projects have reached the village so far—a PMGSY road and a Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) water supply scheme.
They said the PMGSY road is in poor condition and often becomes inaccessible due to bad weather. Although the road is reopened after blockages, residents said its condition continues to cause problems.
The JJM water supply scheme has also not become functional, leaving residents without a reliable piped water supply.
Healthcare is another major concern. Residents said the local NTPHC serves around nine villages but currently has no doctor. They alleged that only nursing orderly and other staff are attending to patients, forcing people to travel long distances for treatment.
Residents said the lack of proper roads, drinking water and healthcare services is making daily life difficult, especially for elderly people, women, children and patients.
They urged the administration and concerned departments to improve the road, make the JJM scheme functional and ensure that a doctor is posted at the NTPHC.
The residents expressed hope that their remote village would receive greater attention and better basic facilities. (KINS)
