Justice V Kameswar Rao recommended for Patna HC; Justice Ravindra V Ghuge for Calcutta HC
NEW DELHI, AUG 9 : The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the elevation of four judges as Chief Justices of different High Courts across the country.
The recommendations were made by the Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant during its meeting held on August 6.
According to the recommendations, Justice V Kameswar Rao, presently serving as a judge of the Delhi High Court, has been recommended for appointment as the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.
Justice Ravindra V Ghuge, currently serving at the Bombay High Court, has been recommended for elevation as the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court.
The Collegium has further recommended Allahabad High Court judge Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi for appointment as the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.
Meanwhile, Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra of the Punjab and Haryana High Court has been recommended for appointment as the Chief Justice of that High Court.
Two High Court Judges Recommended for Transfer
In another significant decision, the Supreme Court Collegium has also recommended the transfer of two High Court judges.
Justice Manash Ranjan Pathak, presently posted at the Orissa High Court, has been recommended for transfer to the Gujarat High Court.
Similarly, Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra, also of the Orissa High Court, has been recommended for transfer to the Chhattisgarh High Court.
The recommendations will now proceed through the prescribed process for appointment and transfer of the judges.(KNC)
