Budgam, June 12 : A school bus driver was killed while two girl students sustained injuries after the vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in Neego Brenwar village of Khansahib in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday.
Officials told the Kashmir News Corner (KNC) that the accident took place in the Neego Brenwar area when the school bus reportedly lost control before veering off the road and falling into the gorge.
The deceased driver was identified as Shahid Ahmad Lone, son of Zahoor Ahmad Lone and a resident of Kechwari, Khansahib. He died on the spot due to the impact of the accident.
The two injured girl students were immediately rushed to Community Health Centre (CHC) Surasyar for initial treatment and were later referred to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Chadoora. Owing to the nature of their injuries, both were subsequently shifted to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for specialised medical care, officials said.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated further proceedings. Additional details are awaited. (KNC)
