Recoveries include AK-47, MP5 guns, pistols and live rounds
URI, July 21 (GNS) — Security forces deployed along the Line of Control in Gawalta, Uri area of Baramulla have recovered a cache of arms and ammunition, officials said on Tuesday
Officials told GNS that 19 Raj rifles of army, deployed at LOC Gawalta, informed Police Station Uri regarding the recovery made near Chowkas in village Gawalta.
A police team from PS Uri immediately reached the site and took possession of the recovered items.
According to officials, the recoveries include one AK-47 rifle, two MP5 guns, four pistols, one AK-47 magazine, four MP5 magazines and 12 pistol magazines. Ammunition recovered includes 839 live rounds of AK-47, 255 rounds of MP5 and 50 live rounds of pistol. A wire cutter was also found at the site.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 80/2026 under Sections 7/25 of the Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Uri and further investigation has been initiated. (GNS)
