Srinagar, Sep 18: Member Parliament from Srinagar and National Conference leader Aga Ruhullah Mehdi on Thursday said that those who bowed in obedience cannot raise their eyes to see the struggle of those who resist oppression.

The statement came in response to remarks made by minister Sakina Itoo where she said that, Ruhullah had been elected by the people to represent them in Delhi. “His job is to raise J&K’s core issues in the Parliament, not to point fingers here.

In a post on X, office of Aga Ruhullah as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC wrote, “those who bowed in obedience cannot raise their eyes to see the struggle of those who resist oppression.” His office noted that if such people do not follow Parliament proceedings or official updates, “we can send them a record of speeches and interventions.”

Statement pointed to several issues taken up by Ruhullah in Parliament and beyond, including the crisis in the apple and horticulture sector, release of detainees, Waqf encroachments, health facilities, road and rail projects, and financial assistance to patients through the Prime Minister’s relief fund.

It also mentioned disbursal of more than five crore rupees under MPLADS and talks with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on extending the highway up to Sonmarg.

His office added that these efforts are on public record and accessible to all. “Those advising us to merely ‘talk’ must remember that while their obedience brought them ease, it left us to carry the difficult responsibility of challenging the oppressive power,” the post read.

Earlier, Cabinet Minister Sakina Itoo said that Ruhullah had been elected by the people to represent them in Delhi. “His job is to raise J&K’s core issues in the Parliament, not to point fingers here. (KNC)
