Govt Orders Inquiry Into Delay in Snow Clearance, Suspends Three PWD Officials

Srinagar, May 10 : The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered an inquiry into the alleged delay in snow clearance operations and unauthorized absence from duty by officials of the Public Works (R&B) Department, while placing three officers under suspension.

According to Government Order No. 161-PW(R&B) of 2026 dated May 8, 2026, issued by the Public Works (R&B) Department, Mr. Mohd Yaseen Lone, Joint Director (PIG), Public Works (R&B) Department, has been appointed as Inquiry Officer to conduct an in-depth probe into the conduct of the officials.

The order states that the suspended officials were allegedly absent from duty without sanctioned leave during snow clearance operations, thereby affecting public service delivery and attracting provisions under the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956.

The Inquiry Officer has been directed to submit his report along with recommendations within 21 days. The government further stated that any change in the posting of the Inquiry Officer shall not affect completion of the inquiry.

Mr. Mohib Ali Bukhari, JKAS, Under Secretary to the Government, Public Works (R&B) Department, will assist the Inquiry Officer during the proceedings.
