SRINAGAR: A five-year-old boy lost his life and his father was injured after a speeding Tata Mobile load carrier hit them near the Higher Secondary School in Arihal village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday afternoon.
According to sources, the child died on the spot, while his father, identified as Altaf Ahmad Wagay, sustained injuries in the incident. He was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police sources said the accident took place when the load carrier struck the father and son near the school premises.
The driver has been taken into custody, and an investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The tragedy has sparked grief in the area, with residents raising concerns over rash driving and calling for stricter traffic regulations. -(KL)
