Srinagar, Mar 30 : The Meteorological Department on Monday forecast a prolonged spell of unstable weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir till April 10, with intermittent rain and snowfall expected in various parts of the region.

Director MeT Centre Srinagar, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, said that widespread light to moderate rain and snowfall (in higher reaches) along with thunder and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) is expected to continue till late evening on March 30, with gradual improvement thereafter.

He said that between March 31 and April 2, the weather is likely to remain relatively stable, though brief spells of light rain or snow may occur at isolated places, particularly during late afternoon hours. From April 3 to 4, conditions are expected to turn cloudy again with scattered light precipitation and gusty winds, while April 5 to 7 is likely to witness partly cloudy skies.

The MeT department further predicted fresh spells of light rain and snowfall at scattered places between April 8 and 10. It also warned of moderate rainfall at a few places and moderate snowfall over higher reaches of North and Central Kashmir, with chances of thunderstorms and landslides at vulnerable locations.

Farmers have been advised to resume agricultural activities between March 31 and April 2, while commuters and travellers have been urged to follow traffic advisories and plan their movement cautiously. (KNC)
