Vehicle Theft, Burglary Case Cracked in Budgam: Police

Srinagar, Jan 14: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday said to have cracked a vehicle theft and burglary case in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

“On 12-01-2024 Police Station Magam received a written complaint from some shopkeepers of Magam Market that their shops had been burgled during the intervening night of 11th and 12th January 2024 and goods worth lakhs stolen. One Sumo vehicle was also stolen which was used by the accused to decamp with the other stolen goods”, reads a statement issued here.

“On receipt of this information, case FIR No. 03/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Magam and investigation was taken up”, reads the statement.

“During the course of investigation, some suspects were rounded up and some leads were followed resulting in the arrest of the accused Himayat Hussain Mir S/O Mohd Hussain Mir R/O Yagipora Magam. During the analysis of CCTV footages, it was observed that the vehicle was taken towards Pattan-Sopore axis. Subsequently, teams were sent to various locations and the vehicle was traced near Hygam Sopore. Goods worth lakhs alongwith Sumo vehicle bearing Reg. No JK04-9558 have been seized”, the statement reads further.
