Srinagar, July 19 (GNS): The District Administration Srinagar has issued a weather advisory in view of the forecast of heavy to intense rainfall across Jammu & Kashmir, including Srinagar district, from July 19 to July 23, 2026, as predicted by the India Meteorological Department.
According to the advisory issued by the Office of the District Magistrate Srinagar, residents have been asked to exercise utmost caution during the period.
The administration has specifically advised people residing in Fakir Gujri and adjoining areas, and Khonmouh not to venture near hill slopes, landslide-prone zones, or water bodies until weather conditions improve.
Tourists and local Shikara operators have been directed to suspend all activities on Dal Lake and Nigeen Lake during the weather alert period.
Similarly, sand miners operating along River Jhelum and other water bodies have been strictly advised against undertaking any river-crossing or mining activities without first verifying water levels and prevailing conditions of the river and its tributaries.
The general public has been asked to contact the District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC), Srinagar, or the Police Control Room (PCR), Srinagar, for any emergency assistance or information.
