Kolkata, May 21: The West Bengal Government has made the singing of “Vande Mataram” compulsory during morning assembly prayers in all Madrasahs across the state before the start of academic classes.
As per an official notification issued by the Directorate of Madrasah Education on May 19, the directive will be applicable to Government Model Madrasahs (English Medium), government-aided recognized Madrasahs, approved MSKs and SSKs, besides recognized unaided Madrasahs functioning under the Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education Department.
Officials said the order has come into force with immediate effect and will override all previous instructions and existing practices related to assembly prayers in Madrasah institutions.
The notification, issued with approval from the competent authority, was signed by the Director of Madrasah Education, West Bengal.
Copies of the directive have also been circulated among District Magistrates, District Madrasah Education Officers, District School Inspectors, the West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education and other concerned departments for implementation and necessary compliance. (KNC)
