Ganderbal, July 18 : A woman lost her life after succumbing to injuries sustained in a tragic road accident involving an Eco vehicle and a scooty in the Dobipora area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Saturday, officials said.
According to officials, the accident took place when an Eco vehicle bearing registration number JK16C-2286 collided with a scooty bearing registration number JK01BB-9213, which was being driven by Mohd Azan, son of Tariq Ahmad Najar.
The pillion rider, Ishtifa Bano, wife of Tariq Ahmad Najar and a resident of Eidgah, Srinagar, sustained critical injuries in the impact. She was immediately shifted to District Hospital Ganderbal for emergency treatment and was later referred to SKIMS Soura due to the severity of her injuries.
Despite the best efforts of doctors, she succumbed to her injuries during treatment at SKIMS Soura, officials confirmed.
After completing all necessary medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to the bereaved family for the last rites.
Officials further stated that the law and order situation in the adjoining areas falling under the jurisdiction of Beehama and Malshah-Bagh police stations remained peaceful and normal following the incident.
Police have registered a case, taken cognizance of the accident, and initiated a detailed investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the fatal collision.(KNC)
