Srinagar, May 26: A youth was killed and three others injured after a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into Dal Lake on Srinagar’s Foreshore Road on Tuesday evening.
Several news agencies reported that an EcoSport vehicle bearing registration number JK01V-3260 hit a roadside divider at Lashkari Mohalla on Foreshore Road before plunging into the lake.
The impact left one occupant dead on the spot while three others sustained injuries. The deceased has been identified as Zameer Showkat, a resident of Rainawari in Srinagar, reports said.
All injured persons were rescued from the spot and shifted to Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura for treatment, where their condition is stated to be stable.
Officials, as quoted by reports, said four youths were travelling in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further investigation into the cause of the crash.
