Police Launch Investigation Under POCSO Act, Says Official
Srinagar, Aug 1: Police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against a man for allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in Kupwara district, officials said on Saturday.Â
A senior police officer told news agency JKNS that, a written complaint was lodged at Police Station Sogam alleging that a person (identification withheld) allegedly entered the complainant’s house when the minor girl was alone and committed sexual assault.
Acting on the complaint, Police Station Sogam registered FIR No. 32/2026 under Section under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and under the POCSO Act, officer said.
An investigation has been initiated which is being worked on, an officer added. (JKNS)
