Kupwara, July 24: A 22-year-old youth died after allegedly receiving a fatal electric shock in the Dardpora area of Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday, officials said.

Officials told news agency JKNS that Arif Ahmad Ganie (22), son of Mohammad Hamza Ganie, a resident of Haji Mohalla, Dardpora, Lolab, came in contact with a live electric line outside a residence in the locality.

They said the injured was immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Lolab, where doctors declared him brought dead. Officials said he is believed to have succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to the hospital.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated proceedings under relevant provisions of law. Further investigation is underway. (JKNS)
