Srinagar, Sept 17 (GNS):  Police on Thursday claimed to have recovered 416 high explosive gelatine sticks and 50 detonators near forests of village Gadikhal Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

“Acting on tip off about the presence of militants of Jash-e-Mohammad, Police alongwith 42 Rashtriay Rifles and 130 batallion CRPF conducted a joint search of the nursery area near forests of village Gadikhal Awantipora,’a spolice spokesperson said, adding,  During search of the said forest area, two  explosive dumps were found which were concealed underground in two different 250 litres plastic tanks.”

In one plastic tank, he said, 416 high explosive gelatine sticks were recovered while in another, 50 detonators were recovered. “The detonators were destroyed by the Bomb Disposal Squad on the spot, due to their risk of carrying and transporting,” the spokesperson said, adding, “By virtue of this recovery, security forces have been able to avert major terror attack by means of explosive substances.”

Accordingly a case FIR number 126/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Awantipora and investigation has been taken up, he added. (GNS)
