Srinagar, March 25 (GNS): Authorities have ordered a probe on the chain of sequence to find out whether there was any negligence in the handling of the 22-year-old youth from Bandipora who tested positive for coronavirus.
The youth after reporting at a hospital in Bandipora was ferried to GMC Baramulla in the official vehicle of a Block Medical Officer, who is now in quarantine.
Officials said that after his samples was taken at GMC Baramulla, he was again taken in the same vehicle to Dak Banglow Bandipora where authorities have set up a quarantine facility and other persons were already kept there.
They said that there seems to be negligence on part of some officials at Bandipora as well at GMC Baramulla in dealing with the youth. In order to fix the responsibility, the authorities in Bandipora have ordered a probe.
“We have ordered an inquiry in order to fix the responsibility,” Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza, told GNS.
Meanwhile, officials in Sopore and Sogam Kupwara have appealed the people who came in contact, directly or indirectly, with the 22-year-old youth as well as another covid-19 patient from Hyderpora, who is actually from Sopore, to come forward and reveal details to the concerned health authorities and take measures as are advised.
A senior government functionary in Sopore told GNS the patient from Hyderpora is a known businessman and he spent a day and a half in the apple town where he met many people.
There are also reports that a doctor from Kupwar’s Sogam area has also voluntarily gone or self-quarantine as he had treated the businessman a week ago at Sopore where he runs a clinic. Also panic has gripped staff at Sogam hospital as the doctor also discharges his services there. However BMO Sogam told GNS that the doctor while attending to the businessman had taken all the precautions and was wearing a proper mask and gloves. “There is no need to panic as the doctor while treating the person, who later turned out to be covid-19 patient, had taken all precautionary measures. He (doctor) has gone for quarantine only for precautionary measures,” the BMO Sogam said. (GNS)
