COVID-19 pandemic: DGP J&K chairs officers meeting; reviews preparedness, and measures being taken on ground

Jammu, April 7 (GNS): Director General of Police J&K Shri Dilbag Singh chaired a high level meeting of senior officers, zonal, range and district officers and reviews preparedness and measures on ground situation in view of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic today at Police Headquarters here.

The meeting was attended by ADGsP Shri B Srinivas, A. K. Choudhary, Deepak Kumar, S. J. M. Gillani, A. G. Mir, IGsP Dr S D Singh Jamwal, Shri T. Namgyal, Shri Mukesh Singh, M. K. Sinha, Gareeb Dass, and AIsG of PHQ.

Those officers who participated in the meeting via video conferencing included IGP Kashmir Shri Vijay Kumar, all Range DIsG of Jammu and Kashmir, all district SSsP of Kashmir and Jammu zone, SSsP PCR Srinagar and Jammu and Medical Superintendent Police Hospital Srinagar.

On the onset of the meeting the DGP complimented the officers for the good work by all the Police personnel of J&K Police. He said that the situation which emerged suddenly have been handled very diligently by the personnel under the guidance of senior officers/leadership on ground. He said the COVID-19 is presently in a sensitive stage. He said that we need to be more careful and ready to handle the evolving situation. He said that the time is to motivate our jawans and officers on ground to remain fit and fighting to stop the spread of deadly virus.

The DGP said that number of COVID positive cases are increasing day by day throughout the world and in the Union Territory also, and as such the involvement of police personnel on sensitive duties is also increasing he added. Lot many things have been done so far by the personnel, but there is much more to do to stop the spread, he said. He said all required logistic and administrative support is being provided to every Police personnel.

The DGP impressed upon officers to increase efforts in tracing those who are hiding their travel history and also in contact tracing. He stressed upon the officers to stay strong and stay safe while performing their duties.

The DGP appreciated the work done at police welfare centres of all the districts, for making gowns, masks and sanitizing tunnels. He  said that every police personnel should be provided with the articles/gear which are necessary to keep these personnel safe, particularly those deployed at sensitive places and on sensitive tasks.

The DGP also lauded the role of J&K Police personnel on the counter terrorism front. He said that besides handling the crisis of Coronavirus, our officers and jawans of Police, CAPF, and Army are continuing, keeping Counter Insurgency Grid and Border Grid active and geared up. He said that cross border infiltration attempts are being made continuously from Pakistan even in these Pandemic times and we have to thwart all such attempts.

During the meeting the senior officers gave briefing about the preparations/precautions/contribution made by their wings and units with regard to COVID-19 pandemic and of security in their respective wings and offices. (GNS)
