Srinagar, Apr 21: (GNS) Police on Tuesday registered a case against a butcher for allegedly violating the Lockdown norms amid the Coronavirus pandemic in Khanyar area of Old City of Srinagar.

A police official while talking to GNS said that, they had been receiving complaints against a butcher from Khanyar locality, for the violation of Lockdown.

“As such a team was pressed to check the veracity of the claims whereupon we found that a butcher namely Ali Mohammad Batloo son of Ghulam Mohammed Batloo from Rozabal locality of Khanyar was found in contravention to the Lockdown norms”, the official said.

“We also came to know that the offender was selling the meat at exorbitant prices”, the official said.

“The offender has been arrested on the spot, the official said adding that a case has been registered against the offender for violation of Section 144 CrPC.”

Pertinent to mention here, that a countrywide Lockdown, restricting the movement of people, has been clamped by Prime-minister Narendra Modi on March 24 which was further extended to May 3, on Tuesday last. (GNS)
