Kupwara, Jun 5:(GNS) In a bid to contain open-defecation menace, Gram Panchayat Lalpora Friday dismantled several roadside latrines in the area. 
Block Development Officer Sogam, Ayaz Ahmad Butt while talking to GNS said that, the drive has been launched under open-defecation control project.
“Several roadside open latrines are being dismantled in the area to serve a deterrent message on the menace of open defecation”, he said. 
Assuring that the families will be compensated with, the official said that “latrines will be constructed on some alternate places under NLOB (new left out beneficiary) SBG-G Project for which each family will be granted twelve-thousand rupees each.”
The drive by the local body has seen an active participation of Sarpanch Mohammad Shafi Mir, Deputy Sarpanch Shabir Ahmad Wani and other Panches of the area. (GNS)
