Srinagar, May 8 (GNS): Police have solved a case involving theft from donation box of a Masjid in Kunzer area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district by arresting two accused persons.

“Police Station Kunzer received a written complaint from Intizamiya Committee of Masjid Sharif Utikoo Kunzer about alleged theft of money from the donation box of Masjid Sharif,” a police spokesman said, adding, “On receiving the complaint, a case under relevant sections of law was registered and investigation was initiated.”

During the course of investigation, he said, police using modern techniques including the collection and examining the CCTV footage, zeroed in on one person identified as Abdul Majid Lone of Cheatham Chanpora Tangmarg.

“On questioning, the accused person confessed that he along with his accomplice namely Imran Hussain Mir of Mirgund are involved in the commission of crime,” he said, adding, “Both the accused persons were arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody.” Investigation in the matter is going on, he said.

“Community members have appreciated the efforts made by the Baramulla Police for solving the burglary case. Our efforts should assure community members that Police is resolved to act tough against the individuals involved in criminal activities,” he added. (GNS)
