Opening of Mughal Road: DM Poonch Elaborates Arrangements, Covid-19 Testing To Be Done En Route

Poonch, May 18 (GNS): District Magistrate Poonch has elaborated arrangements regarding restoration of historic Mughal Road – connecting Poonch and Shopian districts of south Kashmir – exclusively to fruit-laden trucks and movement of Gujjar-Bakerwals.

In an order, of which a copy is in possession of GNS, the District Magistrate Inder Jeet stated that subsequent to the Government’s decision regarding opening of Mughal Road and in exercise of powers vested in him under Sec. 34 of Disaster Management Act 2005 and other Acts/Rules in vogue, the arrangements ordered with immediate effect include that the road be allowed for the movement of permitted category only that is fruit laden trucks having valid permission from respective District Magistrate of originating district and for seasonal nomads with herds.

The traffic on the Mughal Road, as per the order, is to be permitted as per Traffic Plan and subject to fair weather conditions and riding condition on the thoroughfare with Tehsildar Surankote to ensure hassle free movement of permitted traffic at Buffliaz TCP alongside deployment of a Magistrate who shall maintain complete record and submit it to the office of undersigned on daily basis.

DySP Surankote/SHO concern shall render full assistance in regulating the permissible movement on the stretch of Mughal Road falling in the territorial jurisdiction of District Poonch and Tehsildar Surankote/DySP Surankote shall maintain close coordination with their respective counter parts of District Shopian in order to maintain hassle free movement, it says.

The BMO Surankote, has been in the meantime directed to put in place fool proof COVID testing arrangements at suitable place.

Meanwhile Additional Superintendent of Police and Additional District Magistrate, Poonch are asked to supervise the entire movement and ensure hassle free movement of permitted vehicles and Nomads with herds on Mughal Road passing through the territory of Poonch District.

Pertinent to mention here that LG office had on Saturday in a tweet said that divisional commissioners shall ensure availability of movement passes in every district. (GNS)

JKPSC Defers Combined Competitive Preliminary Examination, To Be Held Now On Oct 24

Srinagar, May 18 (GNS): Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission on Tuesday deferred by three months the combined competitive preliminary examination due to covd-19.

“Due to the covid-19 pandemic, the combined competitive (Preliminary) Examination, 2021, which was scheduled to be held on 11.07.2021 shall now be held on 24.10.2021,” reads a notification by deputy controller examination, a copy of which lies with GNS.  (GNS)
