Kupwara, Aug 11 (GNS): A bear entered a poultry shop and devoured several chicken before being locked up inside the shop in Tarathpora Ramhall in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday, reports said.
They said that the bear was spotted in Malik Mohalla, Hajam Mohallah and Kumar Mohallah Tarathpora Ramhall before it entered the poultry shop.
The black bear immediately pounced on the chicken, devouring many among the at least 500 fowls, according to the shop owner Abdul Gani Teeli.
The villagers told GNS that the bear was roaming in the residential areas and later took shelter in the poultry shop. The locals have locked the poultry shop, reports said.
They have informed the Wildlife Department to catch the bear. Later wildlife officials reached the spot and captured the bear. Subsequently the animal will now be shifted to Dacchigam park, the officials told GNS. (GNS)
