Investigating Circumstances Leading To Drowning: Police
Srinagar, Apr 22 (GNS): Body of a 15-year-old boy was retrieved from a river in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday, officials said.
They told GNS that a body was spotted by locals inside Sokh Nag river in Chak-e-Kawoosa. The police was intimated following which a team reached the site and with the assistance of locals retrieved the body from the river.
The body has been identified to be of one Shabir Ahmad Mir son of Ali Mohammad Mir, resident of Gund Hassi Bhat Srinagar – a student, they said.
Confirming it, a police official told GNS that the body has been handed over to the family after conducting necessary medico-legal formalities.
A senior police officer told GNS that investigations are underway and police was investigation all angles amid the law & order situation in the area.
“Police reliably learnt that a 17 year old boy namely Shabir Ali Mir son of Ali Mohammad Mir resident of Gund Hasibhat, has drowned in Suknag Nalla at Kawoosa,” police said in a statement, adding, “The dead body was fished out from the stream by the locals and was taken to his native place for last rites. Police Budgam is enquiring into the circumstances which lead to the drowning of the individual.” (GNS)
