Srinagar, Dec 20 : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said to have arrested a drug peddler alongwith contraband substance in Sopore area in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
“Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested drug peddler in Sopore and recovered contraband substances from his possession” said a police spokesman in a statement issued to GNS.
“A police party of Police Station Sopore headed by SHO Police Station Sopore under the supervision of SDPO Sopore at checkpoint established near Ziyarat Shareef Syed Sultan Arampora Sopore arrested a drug peddler identified as Nissar Ahmad Changa son of Ghulam Nabi Changa resident of Arampora Sopore. During search, 6.90 grams of Heroin like substance were recovered from his possession. He has been shifted to the police station where he remains in custody.”
“Accordingly, a case FIR No. 304/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore & further investigation have been initiated”, reads the statement.
“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law”, the statement reads further. (GNS)
