Kulgam, October 20: Continuing its relentless drive against the menace of drugs, Kulgam Police on Monday apprehended a drug peddler and recovered a substantial quantity of contraband substances from his possession.
According to officials, a police party from Police Station Qaimoh had established a checkpoint at Khudwani Bypass. During checking, one individual tried to flee upon noticing the police. However, he was swiftly chased and tactfully apprehended by the alert personnel.
Upon his search, police recovered 09 grams of Charas and 01 kilogram of grinded Cannabis-like substance from his possession. The accused was immediately taken into custody on the spot.
A case under FIR No. 82/2025 has been registered at Police Station Qaimoh under Section 8/20 NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
Kulgam Police reiterated its commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance policy towards drug abuse and trafficking. The police have urged the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug peddling or other anti-social activities to help create a drug-free society.
