DC Budgam reviews and approves Rent Assessment Cases for Private Buildings

39 Rent Cases approved to ensure smooth functioning of Government Offices


BUDGAM, FEBRUARY 7: Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, chaired a meeting of the District Rent Assessment Committee at the New Conference Hall, DC Office Budgam, to review, assess and finalize rent cases pertaining to private buildings occupied by various Government departments in the district.

During the meeting, a total of 39 rent assessment cases were taken up for detailed deliberation. The cases were examined comprehensively on the basis of relevant records, site-specific details, prevailing market rates and recommendations furnished by the concerned departments.


After due scrutiny and adherence to prescribed norms and guidelines, all 39 cases were approved by the Committee.
During the meeting the DC observed that regular and timely assessment of rents is essential to maintain transparency, financial discipline and administrative efficiency. He laid Emphasis on ensuring that rent fixation is carried out strictly in accordance with established government procedures so as to safeguard public resources and ensure equitable treatment of private building owners.


The DC underscored that rationalization and periodic revision of rents would contribute to smoother functioning of government offices operating from private accommodations. He stressed that pendency of rent-related cases should be avoided and that all future proposals must be processed in a time-bound and systematic manner.


The DC further issued the directions to the concerned departments to expedite completion of all post-approval formalities so that the approved rent cases are implemented without any delay. He also directed that proper documentation, verification and compliance with codal provisions be ensured in all such cases to prevent discrepancies and enhance accountability.


The meeting was attended by SE R&B circle budgam, CMO budgam, representatives from Revenue, Roads & Buildings (R&B), Education, Health, Agriculture, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Social Welfare, Fire & Emergency Services, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, and other concerned departments.
Owners of the private buildings were also provided due representation during the proceedings to ensure participatory and fair decision-making.
