Jammu, March 18: Security forces on Wednesday launched search operations in parts of Rajouri, Doda and Poonch districts following reports of suspicious movement, officials said.

The operations were initiated after inputs about possible movement in forested and remote areas, prompting joint teams of police and security forces to cordon off locations and begin searches.

The development comes amid heightened vigilance in the Jammu region, where security agencies have been maintaining close watch over vulnerable areas, particularly along forest belts and near the Line of Control.

Officials said search parties were deployed in multiple locations, with personnel conducting combing operations in dense forests and adjoining habitations.

“Based on specific inputs, search operations have been launched in certain areas. Forces are on alert and necessary precautions are being taken,” an official said.

The searches were carried out in a coordinated manner, with reinforcements sent to sensitive pockets to prevent any potential movement.

A local from Rajouri told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that, “Forces have been moving in the area since morning. People have been asked to remain indoors while searches are underway.”

Officials said there was no immediate report of any contact or recovery, and the operations were continuing at the time of filing this report. . [KNT]
