Traffic Police Jammu Issues Advisory as Road Relaying Work Begins at Nachlana Stretch in Ramban

Jammu, June 11: The Traffic Police City Jammu has announced temporary traffic restrictions on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) in view of ongoing road relaying works at several locations, including the critical Nachlana stretch in Ramban district.

According to a public notice issued by the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic City Jammu, vehicular movement from Jammu towards Srinagar and Ramban will remain suspended during the following periods:

  • Night of June 12/13: 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM
  • Night of June 14/15: 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM
  • Night of June 16/17: 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM

The restrictions have been imposed following a communication from the Additional District Magistrate, Ramban, to facilitate the safe and timely execution of the road improvement works on NH-44.

Traffic authorities advised commuters to avoid undertaking journeys from Jammu towards Srinagar during the notified night hours, stating that no vehicle of any category will be permitted to proceed from Jammu towards Srinagar/Ramban after 4:00 PM on the scheduled dates.

Operators transporting fresh perishables and livestock have also been urged to plan their consignments accordingly to avoid inconvenience.

Travellers intending to use NH-44 have been advised to verify the latest traffic updates before commencing their journeys on June 13, 15 and 17, while the general public has been requested to avoid non-essential travel towards Srinagar and Ramban during the restriction period.

In case of emergencies, commuters may contact the Traffic Control Unit (TCU) Jammu for assistance and clearance at 0191-2459048, 0191-2740550, 9419147732, and 103.

Traffic Police sought public cooperation, stating that the restrictions are necessary to ensure public safety and facilitate the smooth completion of the highway improvement works.(KNC)
