J&K to witness intermittent rain, thunderstorms, gusty winds and possibility of hailstorm today; weather likely to remain mostly dry from April 20 to 23: MeT

Srinagar, April 19 : The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast partly to generally cloudy weather across Jammu and Kashmir today, with intermittent spells of light rain and thundershowers expected at many places.

According to the forecast, gusty winds with a speed of 40 to 50 kmph and the possibility of hailstorm are also likely at a few places, particularly during the afternoon and late afternoon hours.

The weather is expected to remain generally dry from April 20 to April 23, bringing relief to residents and allowing normal activities to resume across the Union Territory.

However, the MeT as per news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) said that from April 24 to April 25, the weather may once again turn partly to generally cloudy, with one or two brief spells of light rain or thundershower likely at many places. Gusty winds are also expected at a few places during the late afternoon and evening hours.

On April 26, a brief spell of light rain or thundershower accompanied by gusty winds is likely at a few places during the afternoon.

Thereafter, the weather is expected to remain generally dry on April 27 and April 28.

The MeT Centre has further predicted another brief spell of light rain or thundershower, along with gusty winds at a few places, on April 29 and April 30 during the late afternoon hours.

In its advisory, the Meteorological Centre Srinagar has advised farmers to resume farm operations from April 20 onwards, as weather conditions are expected to remain largely favourable during the following few days. (KINS)
