New Delhi, May 25: Petrol and diesel prices were hiked again on Monday, with state-run oil marketing companies increasing fuel rates by Rs 2.61 to Rs 2.71 per litre, marking the fourth revision in less than two weeks amid rising global crude prices.
With the latest increase, the cumulative hike in petrol and diesel prices has crossed Rs 7.5 per litre since daily fuel price revisions resumed on May 15 after a long freeze period.
According to officials, petrol in Delhi now costs Rs 102.12 per litre, up from Rs 99.51, while diesel prices have risen to Rs 95.20 per litre from Rs 92.49 per litre.
The continuous rise in fuel prices has been attributed to elevated international crude oil prices and the weakening value of the Indian rupee, which has significantly raised import costs for oil marketing companies.
The repeated hikes are expected to further impact transportation costs and household budgets across the country.(KNC)
