J&K Police Orders Major Reshuffle of DSPs, Issues Fresh Postings and Transfers

Srinagar, June 17: In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Jammu and Kashmir Police Headquarters has ordered the adjustment of newly promoted Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and transferred several serving officers across various wings and units of the force with immediate effect. The orders were issued by Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat under Order No. 1794 of 2026 dated June 16.

According to the order, 28 officers who were recently promoted as DSPs through separate government orders issued in March, April and May 2026 have been assigned postings in different units, including CID, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), State Investigation Agency (SIA), Armed Police, Security, Traffic, Training Institutions and Railways.

Among the key adjustments, Sanjay Gupta has been posted as DSP CID Special Branch Ramban, Riyaz Mustafa as DSP CTC Lethpora, Mir Zahid as DSP Arms and Ammunition Headquarters, Ashwani Kumar as DSP ACB, Nasir Syed Kirmani as DSP CICE Srinagar, and Vijay Kotwal as DSP SIA Jammu. Several others have been posted to various JKAP battalions, training centres and specialized police units across Jammu and Kashmir.

The order also directs the transfer and posting of 32 serving DSPs. Notable transfers include Showkat Ahmad Bhat from DSP PCR Kashmir to DSP Headquarters Pulwama, Albeena Malik from DSP CICE Jammu to DSP SDRF Jammu, Shahjhan Choudhary from DSP SIA Jammu to DSP Headquarters Baramulla, and Zafar Mahdi from DSP SIA Kashmir to DSP Headquarters Bandipora.

Similarly, Tariq Ahmad Tak has been transferred from DSP CTC Lethpora to DSP Traffic Anantnag, Kubra Nazir has been posted as DSP ANTF Kashmir, Bharat Sharma has been appointed SDPO Akhnoor, while Virender Gupta has been shifted from SDPO Akhnoor to DSP CID Special Branch Jammu. Several officers have also been transferred among JKAP battalions, CID, Traffic, Security and CICE units.

The order further states that DSP SOG Darhal will additionally hold the charge of DSP SOG Kandi, Rajouri, while DSP DAR Ramban will hold the additional charge of DSP SOG Ramban until further orders. All officers concerned have been directed to be relieved immediately to enable them to assume their new assignments without delay.

The reshuffle is aimed at strengthening operational efficiency and ensuring effective deployment of officers across various policing, security, intelligence and investigation wings in the Union Territory.(KNC)
