Jammu, June 23: Police have arrested two alleged drug peddlers and recovered more than 44 grams of heroin along with an electronic weighing machine during a joint operation in the Kanachak area of Jammu district.
Official sources said the District Special Branch (DSB) received specific information regarding the movement of suspected drug peddlers traveling in a vehicle. Acting on the input, the information was shared with Police Station Kanachak and a joint operation was launched.
During the operation, a vehicle bearing registration number JK20A-2051 was intercepted and searched by the DSB team in collaboration with the Kanachak Police.
Police identified the occupants as Raghuveer Singh, son of Prasidh Singh, a resident of Swal Kikriyal, Katra, and Naresh Singh, son of Kamal Singh, a resident of Treen Mehari, Katra.
During the search, approximately 44.13 grams of heroin and an electronic weighing machine were recovered from their possession, officials said.
The accused were taken into custody and the recovered contraband was seized on the spot.
A case under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered, and further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source and intended destination of the recovered substance. [KNT]
