Police Registers 345 NDPS Cases, Arrests 372 Drug Peddlers, Destroys 2,000 Kg Contraband during first 6 months in Anantnag

Maintenance Works to Disrupt Power Supply in Several Srinagar Areas: KPDCL

July 01: Continuing its sustained and aggressive campaign against drug trafficking and narcotics abuse, Police in Anantnag have recorded significant achievements during the  first Six Months of year 2026.

Key Actions During the first 06 Months:

1. FIRs & Arrests: 345 FIRs registered under various provisions of the NDPS Act. 372 drug peddlers arrested for narcotics trafficking and related activities. 

2. Seizures: More than 440 kilograms of contraband substances seized in multiple operations across the district. Cash amounting to ₹2752976 recovered from drug peddlers. 

3. Action on Properties: Properties worth approximately ₹ 50 Crore attached in 30 cases under relevant provisions of law. 20 illegal properties worth ₹ 20 crores, linked to narcotics proceeds, demolished. 

4. Destruction Drives: 2000 kilograms of narcotic substances destroyed after due legal process. Illegal narcotic cultivation over 260 marlas of land destroyed. 

5. Land Retrieval: Over 260 marlas of government land retrieved from encroachment by drug peddlers. 

6. Special Arrests:  female drug peddlers and 07 female cultivators arrested. 07 government employee found involved in drug-related cases; legal action initiated. 

7. Preventive Action:  06 drug peddlers detained under PIT NDPS Act. 24 driving licences and 16 RC’s cancelled in connection with narcotics-related offences. 

8. Enforcement Operations: 203 Narco-CASOs conducted across the district to curb movement and supply of narcotics. 

9. Medical Shop Inspections: 214  medical shops inspected jointly with concerned departments. 17 violation detected; legal action initiated. 

10. Capacity Building: 96 Investigation Officers handling NDPS cases imparted training at DPO Anantnag on legal procedures and evidence handling.

J&K Police reiterates its firm commitment to eradicating the drug menace from society and appeals to the general public, especially the youth, to cooperate in identifying and reporting drug-related activities. Public support remains vital in this collective fight to safeguard the future of our society.
