FIR Registered Under NDPS Act at Mattan Police Station; Investigation Underway
ANANTNAG, SEPTEMBER 6: Anantnag Police on Sunday arrested an alleged drug peddler and recovered approximately 146 grams of charas from his possession during routine naka checking in the Mattan area of the district.
According to police, a party from Police Station Mattan was conducting routine naka checking at Rambirpora, Mattan, when it apprehended a person identified as Danish Ahmad Lone, son of Gh. Mohi-ud-Din Lone, a resident of Rambirpora, Mattan.
During his personal search, police said approximately 146 grams of charas was recovered from his possession.
Following the recovery, a case has been registered at Police Station Mattan under FIR No. 99/2026 under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police said that investigation has been taken up to ascertain further details and establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged possession and suspected involvement in drug-related activities.
Anantnag Police reiterated its commitment to curbing the menace of drugs and said that strict legal action will be taken against individuals found involved in drug trafficking and other narcotics-related activities.
The police have also urged the public to extend cooperation to law-enforcement agencies in their efforts to combat the drug menace and protect the younger generation from substance abuse.(KNC)
