Srinagar, Jul 15: J&K Bank has achieved a major milestone under the Jammu and Kashmir Government’s flagship Mission YUVA programme by sanctioning more than 30,000 loans aimed at promoting youth entrepreneurship and self-employment across the Union Territory.

According to the Bank, a total of 30,063 loan applications have been sanctioned under the initiative so far, while financial assistance has already been disbursed in over 26,580 cases. The achievement reflects the Bank’s continued efforts to facilitate access to credit for aspiring entrepreneurs and support the establishment of sustainable livelihood ventures.

Mission YUVA is designed to encourage entrepreneurship among young people by providing financial assistance and institutional support to help them launch and expand business enterprises. J&K Bank has emerged as one of the key implementing agencies of the programme, playing a significant role in translating the initiative into tangible economic opportunities.

Expressing satisfaction over the milestone, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Amitava Chatterjee credited the Bank’s workforce for the achievement.

He said crossing the 30,000-loan mark under Mission YUVA was a significant accomplishment that reflected the dedication and collective efforts of employees across the Bank’s network. He congratulated the staff for their contribution towards advancing one of the Government’s flagship employment initiatives.

Reaffirming the Bank’s commitment to the programme, Chatterjee described Mission YUVA as a transformative initiative focused on fostering entrepreneurship and generating sustainable livelihoods for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said the Bank would continue to work closely with the Government to meet all assigned targets within the stipulated timeframe while ensuring that deserving entrepreneurs receive timely financial assistance and the necessary support to establish successful enterprises.

The Bank said the growing number of sanctioned and disbursed cases highlights the increasing participation of young entrepreneurs in the programme and reflects its continued focus on strengthening the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem through accessible institutional finance.
