Contraband Recovered in Separate Cases
July 30: Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking, police in Pulwama achieved another major success by apprehending two drug peddlers and recovered substantial quantities of charas-like contraband in two separate operations.
During naka checking at Monghama, a police party of Police Station Pulwama apprehended a suspect and recovered approximately 1.629 kilograms of charas chura and 04 charas sticks weighing approximately 46 grams from his possession. The accused was identified as Amir Ahmad Chopan son of Ghulam Rasool Chopan resident of Monghama, Pulwama. Accordingly, FIR No. 140/2026 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Pulwama, and investigation has been taken up.
In another operation, a police party of Police Station Litter, during naka checking at Yader, apprehended a suspect and recovered approximately 1.472 kilograms of charas powder from his possession. The accused was identified as Iftikhar Hussain Bhat son of Farooq Ahmad Bhat resident of Renzipora, Awantipora. Accordingly, FIR No. 99/2026 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Litter, and further investigation has been taken up.
Police remains steadfast in its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and urges the public to continue supporting the police by sharing information related to narcotics and other unlawful activities.
