Three North Western Railway Officials Held in Jaipur Case, Two More Arrested in Bikaner Trap; ₹1.46 Lakh and ₹1.20 Lakh Bribe Amounts Recovered
New Delhi, August 15: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested five officials of North Western Railway (NWR), along with two private persons, in connection with two separate bribery and corruption cases involving allegations of demanding and accepting illegal gratification for facilitating the processing and passing of bills.
According to a press release issued by the CBI, the two cases were registered on August 13, 2026, and separate trap operations were subsequently conducted in Jaipur and Bikaner.
First Case: Three Railway Officials and Private Employee Arrested
The first case was registered against an Office Superintendent, North Western Railway, Jaipur, who was allegedly involved in collusion and conspiracy with other public servants/private persons and officials of a private company based in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra.
The accused were allegedly involved in demanding and accepting illegal gratification in lieu of favourable processing and passing of bills for work executed by the company under North Western Railway, Jaipur.
During the trap operation, the CBI arrested the Office Superintendent, NWR Jaipur; Assistant Financial Advisor, NWR Jaipur; Senior Section Officer, NWR Jaipur; and an employee of the Navi Mumbai-based private company.
The agency recovered ₹1.46 lakh in alleged bribe money during the operation.
The CBI also conducted searches at multiple locations in Jaipur and Delhi, during which incriminating documents, electronic devices and cash amounting to ₹9 lakh were seized.
Second Case: Two Railway Officials and Private Company Employee Held
In the second case, the CBI registered a case against a Senior Section Officer, North Western Railway, Bikaner, who was allegedly acting in collusion with other public servants/private persons and officials of a private company based in Kolkata.
The accused allegedly demanded and accepted illegal gratification for favourable processing and passing of bills related to work executed by the private company under NWR, Bikaner division.
During the trap operation, the CBI arrested the Senior Section Officer, NWR Bikaner; an Accounts Assistant, NWR Bikaner; and an employee of the Kolkata-based private company.
The agency recovered ₹1.20 lakh in alleged bribe money from the accused during the operation.
Following the arrests, the CBI conducted searches at several locations in Bikaner and Jaipur, resulting in the seizure of incriminating documents and electronic devices.
The CBI has taken up further investigation into both cases to establish the complete chain of alleged corruption and the involvement of other persons, if any.
