Srinagar, Aug 18 (GNS):A 30-year-old labourer who was critically injured in a hit-and-run incident in Salasan area of Boniyar, Uri, succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS Soura on Tuesday, officials said.
Officials told GNS that Dhaker, son of Ashmali Dhaker and a resident of Salasan, Boniyar, was hit by an unidentified vehicle in Salasan area on Wednesday evening. Locals shifted the injured to PHC Boniyar for immediate treatment. In view of the critical nature of his injuries, he was later referred to GMC Baramulla and subsequently to SKIMS Soura for advanced medical care, where he died.
Following the incident, Police Station Boniyar registered a case and launched an investigation to trace the vehicle and the accused.
Officials said police worked out the case and arrested the accused within hours. The accused has been identified as Mohd Amin Ganie, son of Abdul Rasheed Ganie, a resident of Larri, Boniyar. The vehicle used in the accident has also been seized, officials told Gns.
Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.(GNS)
