Srinagar Aug 22(GNS):The transfer of a newly posted Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the Power Development Department from Uri within days of his joining has left locals surprised, prompting demand for immediate replacement.
Officials told GNS that the J&K Government vide order dated August 4, 2026, had posted Aadil Mehraj Wani, a newly promoted AEE, to PDD Sub-Division Mohura, Uri.
Barely 16 days later, another order issued on August 20 ordered his transfer and new posting as AEE Sub-Division-II Sopore.
The quick transfer has raised eyebrows among residents who questioned the rationale behind shifting an officer soon after his posting.
It was informed that prior to this posting, an Assistant Engineer was holding additional charge of AEE in Uri. With the latest order, the post has again become vacant.
Locals said Uri Sub-Division covers over 100 villages with a huge population and requires a full-time AEE for effective functioning and prompt resolution of electricity-related grievances.
They have requested the government and concerned department to fill the post without delay and ensure such a crucial position does not remain unmanned.
They further appealed that public interest and heavy workload of Uri should be kept in mind during future transfers and postings.(GNS)
