September 16: Continuing its sustained crackdown on the drug menace, Police in Anantnag have booked a notorious drug peddler, Khursheed Ahmad Rather son of Gul Mohd Rather resident of Waghama, Bijbehara, under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act.
The accused has been identified as a repeated drug offender involved in activities related to the illicit trafficking of narcotic substances. In view of his continued involvement in drug-related activities and to prevent further illicit trafficking, the competent authority ordered his detention under the PIT-NDPS Act.
Following the detention order, Khursheed Ahmad Rather has been lodged in District Jail, Bhaderwah, as per law.
J&K Police reiterates its commitment to taking stringent action against drug traffickers and repeat offenders and to further strengthening the ongoing campaign for a Drug-Free society.
