September 22: Continuing its sustained drive against the drug menace, J&K Police in Anantnag has booked a repeated drug peddler under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act.
The individual identified as Peer Asif Rashid @ Asif Peer son of Peer Abdul Rashid resident of Khushroo Kalan, Srigufwara, has been booked under the PIT-NDPS Act. He is involved in various NDPS cases and has been identified as a repeated offender involved in drug-related activities. In view of his continued involvement in the illicit drug trade and to prevent him from further engaging in such activities, the detention order was executed and he has been lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah.
It is pertinent to mention that Anantnag Police has booked 16 drug peddlers under the PIT-NDPS Act during the year 2026, as part of its sustained efforts to disrupt the network of habitual and repeat drug offenders.
Police reiterates its commitment to taking stringent legal action against drug peddlers and strengthening the fight against the drug menace.
