September 24: In its continued crackdown against drug menace, police have arrested two drug peddlers in Shopian and Awantipora and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Police Station Zainapora recovered 2.074Kgs of Cannabis-like substance from a residential house in Zainapora. Acting on specific information, a police party from Police Station Zainapora registered a case under FIR No. 124/2026 of NDPS Act and obtained a search warrant from competent authority. A team from Police Station Zainapora accompanied by the Executive Magistrate, raided the house of Mudasir Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Ahmad Mir resident of Kashwa. During search, 2.074 Kgs of Cannabis-like substance was seized and arrested the accused on the spot. Further investigation initiated to ascertain the source and establish the forward and backward linkages.
Similarly, Police in Awantipora arrested a drug peddler during naka checking at Aripal Bridge, Tral and recovered contraband substance from his possession. The accused identified as Suhail Ahmad Allie son of Gh Nabi Allie resident of Syeedabad Pastuna, was intercepted and searched. During search, 50 grams of charas and 300 grams of Cannabis Powder were recovered from his possession. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 106/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tral, and further investigation has been taken up.
