September 24: Continuing its sustained drive against the drug menace, police in Sopore apprehended a drug peddler and recovered psychotropic substance from his possession.
During naka checking at Super Bazar Crossing near Shah Dargah, in the jurisdiction of Police Station Sopore, a suspicious individual was intercepted. During checking, psychotropic substance was recovered from his possession and seized in accordance with due legal procedure. The accused has been identified as Ansab Altaf Najar @ Ansar son of Altaf Hussain Najar resident of Batpora, Sopore.
Accordingly, case FIR No. 241/2026 under Sections 8/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the contraband and possible wider linkages.
Police reiterates its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and remains committed to sustained action against drug peddlers to safeguard youth and society from the menace of drugs.
