Srinagar, Sep 28 (GNS): The resolution on restoration of statehood moved by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was passed in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Monday.
The resolution seeking early restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir was put to vote in the House and was passed amid support from the majority of members, as per GNS.
The development comes shortly after the Chief Minister asserted in the House that statehood is an internal matter to be decided by the Government of India and not by any other country, and sought clarity on the Supreme Court’s observation of restoring statehood “as soon as possible.”
