Srinagar, Oct 2: An apple orchard in Kiloora area of Shopian district was allegedly vandalized by unidentified miscreants during the night, with several fruit-bearing trees reportedly felled, causing significant financial losses to the affected family.
According to the family, several apple trees carrying ripe fruit were deliberately damaged and felled with long sticks under the cover of darkness. The incident has caused distress to the family, particularly as the apple harvesting season is currently underway.
The orchard is owned by Zahoor Ahmad, a resident of Kiloora, according to the family, which has urged the authorities to launch an immediate investigation into the incident and identify those responsible.
The family has also sought strict legal action against the perpetrators, saying the damage to fruit-bearing trees has resulted in financial loss at a time when growers are engaged in harvesting their produce. [KNT]
