Srinagar, Oct 7: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has approved a change in the date of the provincial holiday on account of the Urs of Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani, with the holiday now to be observed on Friday, October 9, instead of Thursday, October 8.
The change has been approved by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, reported news agency KDC.
As per the 2026 holiday calendar, October 8 was designated as a provincial holiday for the Kashmir region on account of the Urs of Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Sahib.
Following the approval, the holiday will now be observed on October 9 across the Kashmir region, while October 8 will be treated as a working day, officials said.
The adjustment has been made through the competent authority following the Lieutenant Governor’s approval.
