Srinagar, Oct 14 (GNS):At least 40 to 50 villages in Uri sub-division of Baramulla district are reeling under darkness after a landslide damaged a 33 kV power line at Rajerwani amid continuous heavy rainfall.
Reports said electricity supply was snapped this evening after the main line was hit by landslides, plunging dozens of villages into darkness.
An official of the Power Development Department (PDD) told GNS that continuous rainfall and recurring shooting stones in the Rajerwani area have made it difficult for field staff to carry out restoration.
Bandi and Salamabad feeders are expected to remain affected till weather improves and the slide-prone stretch becomes safe for men and machinery, the official said, adding that restoration will be taken up on priority once conditions stabilise.
Meanwhile, residents have appealed to the administration to expedite restoration as they continue to face inconvenience without electricity.(GNS)
