Poonch, Oct 23 (GNS): The higher reaches of Pir Ki Gali along the historic Mughal Road experienced fresh snowfall on Friday evening, marking the first snow of the season in the area and causing a dip in temperatures.

Officials told GNS that light snowfall was recorded at Pir Ki Gali and surrounding upper reaches. Despite the snowfall, the Mughal Road connecting Poonch-Rajouri with Shopian in south Kashmir is open for traffic movement.

The snowfall has led to a considerable drop in temperature across Poonch district, with cold conditions prevailing in upper areas. People have started wearing warm clothes as chill has intensified.

Officials said that they are monitoring the weather situation and have advised commuters to drive cautiously in view of slippery conditions in higher reaches.(GNS)
