Poonch, Oct 24 (GNS): The Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Poonch has ordered strict enforcement and immediate seizure of commercial vehicles plying without valid fitness certificates in the district.
In an order issued by ARTO Poonch (Executive Magistrate 1st Class), it has been observed that some commercial vehicles, both passenger and goods carriers, are operating in district Poonch without valid fitness.
As per the order, a fitness certificate is mandatory for all commercial vehicles under Section 56 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and plying unfit vehicles endangers public life and invites strict legal action.
Therefore, under Section 56 of the MV Act, it has been ordered that all such vehicles plying without valid fitness should be seized immediately. Enforcement agencies including police and traffic police have been requested to implement the order in letter and spirit, the order states.
A list of such vehicles has also been enclosed with the order.(GNS)
